Pearson Marketing Intern - Student Competitions (Utah) in Lehi, Utah
Certiport, a Pearson VUE business, the world leader in performance-based certification exams and practice test solutions, is seeking a talented marketing intern to assist the Marketing Manager in driving worldwide student competitions in addition to helping Certiport Authorized Partners promote and drive their own national student competitions.
Internship Overview: This internship is most suited for undergraduate or graduate students currently studying in a marketing-related discipline. This internship will provide exposure to a variety of work disciplines in field, partner, and event marketing and management. The program offers opportunities to contribute to numerous marketing disciplines, including budget and project management, campaign design and execution, digital and social media marketing, event management, and marketing metrics. The intern will develop his/her skills in communications, field marketing, budgeting and project management, event management, on-site event management, and post-event campaign analysis.
Intern Responsibilities: You will be an individual contributor, reporting to the Marketing Manager: Student Competitions . You will be responsible for administrative duties associated with the execution of tactical marketing plans for worldwide student competitions. You will also support the Marketing Manager: Student Competitions in developing student competition marketing materials that can be leveraged by our worldwide partners, and using those materials to help promote and manage US National and Global student competitions. You will also assist in distributing and gathering partner and student participation packets; helping with event logistics; and general pre-event and post-event project management assignments.
This role requires as much as 10% travel, all within the United States. We’re looking for and individual who is smart, has no fear of challenges, and can get things done. You will assist the Marketing Manager: Student Competitions in working with a cross-functional team, including representatives from external clients, Product and Field Marketing, Certiport Authorized Partners, Global Sales, and Academic customers to drive success.
Salary Offer
- $18 - $20 per hour, depends on the final recommendation of the Hiring Managers
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Assist in the execution of annual student competitions tactical marketing plan.
Monitor performance of quarterly marketing tactics, execution timelines, and related budgets.
Produce and leverage marketing content for digital marketing and social media awareness, demand generation and enablement activities.
Assist in regular communication to internal sales and international partners regarding worldwide student competitions, promotions, and supporting marketing materials.
Serve as a secondary tactical marketing contact for student competitions for internal salespeople, global partners, and invited students/chaperones.
Manage distribution and collection of student packets and other required internal and external feedback associated with student competitions
Provide content updates and editorial suggestions to Web Design team, based on the evolving needs of the student competitions web sites.
Qualifications and Skills
Currently actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a marketing-related discipline in an accredited post-secondary institution
Ability to coordinate logistical details with hotels and other entities
Excellent writing skills for print and web, strong aptitude for social media marketing
Excellent presentation and communication skills, including public speaking
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail while working under tight time constraints
Self-management skills and self-starter attitude highly valued
Comfortable with fast-paced environment and rapidly changing priorities
Work effectively with peers, management and internal and external business partners, prospects and clients
Familiar with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla/Firefox, etc.) and advanced Social Media (Facebook, Twitter) experience required, certification on Microsoft Office is preferred.
Able to commit with a 6-month internship opportunities
Schedule Requirements:
Our ideal candidate demonstrates teamwork, with the availability to work an assigned eight (8) work hour shift plus a one (1) hour unpaid lunch break between the hours of 8:00AM and 5:00PM Monday - Friday. Candidate must be open to flexible scheduling. Schedule changes, when necessary, will be communicated no less than two weeks in advance. This is a Hybrid position that allows for scheduled required “in office” days and scheduled “work from home” days.

Hybrid Office Work Schedule: 3 days in the office, 2 days WFH weekly
Open to traveling throughout the months of June and July.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tactical Marketing Plan Administration and Execution – 65%
Under the direction of the Marketing Manager: Student Competitions , track and execute against established tactical marketing plans to drive worldwide student campaign participation
Logistics coordination around event planning, event management, and student/chaperone participation at student competitions
Produce routine communications (via newsletter articles, email blasts, phone calls, social media) with internal and external audiences about student competitions
Project management of assigned budgets, project timelines, student packet submissions, partner participation, and event management timelines
Event and student competition metrics coordination and reporting
- Program Performance – 10%
Participate regularly in core team meetings to capture market intelligence on the program performance and summarize, consolidate and distribute reports on student competition activities in NOAM and partner participation worldwide, as directed by Marketing Manager: Student Competitions .
Become an expert on the performance and obstacles of success for student competitions both domestically and internationally.
- Digital Marketing – 15%
Exhibit best practices in email marketing and digital marketing materials creation to drive classroom and student participation in national and world competitions
Plan and execute North American digital programs and events
Leverage social media to drive awareness and national/regional student participation in worldwide student competitions
Deliver worldwide partner/student participation measurement reporting
- Budget Management & Reporting – 10%
Manage milestones and deliverable targets against the established marketing plan for student competitions
Assist in the overall responsibility for planning and reporting of student competitions tactical marketing budget, accrual and expenditure.
