Pearson Statistical (SAS) Analyst (Tallahassee, FL) in Tallahassee, Florida
The Statistical Analyst will be responsible for validating data and data requirements. The analyst will be responsible for planning and conducting data verification tasks, planning and coordinating specific data analyses, data storage, ad hoc data requests, and assist in developing procedures to maintain the quality of the data through the creation and update of SAS code. The Statistical Analyst must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions.
ONSITE Tallahassee office location: Florida Department of Education's offices in Tallahassee, FL (near Turlington Building)
Responsibilities:
Have hands on experience with SAS programs and data analysis.
The employee must be productive under tight timeframes, balance multiple and competing priorities and maintain goal-directed behavior and performance sometimes under stressful conditions while interacting courteously with others.
Performance and behavior must demonstrate consideration of the workload concerns of others and must not negatively affect productivity and morale of the unit.
Attendance during peak scoring periods is an essential function of this position. Frequent and sometimes extensive travel is necessary in order to fulfill the requirements of this position.

Responsible for planning and conducting data verification tasks, planning and coordinating specific data analyses, data storage, ad hoc data requests, and assist in developing procedures to maintain the quality of the K-12 statewide assessment data through the creation and update of SAS code.
Conduct verification of report formats, test maps, file formats, test/answer book scannable covers, and specification documents as assigned.
Assist districts with score inquiry and alert systems.
Supervise temporary staff, assist other scoring team members, and act as support/backup to Scoring and Reporting Director when needed.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
Understanding of statistical programming, large scale data verification policies and legal issues.
Knowledge of research, statistical, and data analysis procedures including appropriate data displays,
Knowledge of methods to establish the reliability and validity of large-scale test results, Knowledge of basic descriptive statistics,
Manage timelines and coordinate work tasks in the production of reports and publications,
Edit and provide quality control procedures for the production of reports, publications, and other materials to be disseminated to various audiences,
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others,
Design, plan, implement, and evaluate priorities,
Use statistical software (specifically SAS), word processing software, Microsoft office, spreadsheets, and data base managers,
Replicate basic descriptive data generated by contractors and compare data electronically,
Ability to identify, investigate, and solve problems.
Recommend changes to policies, procedures, expenditures, rules, and statutes as needed,
Supervise temporary data verification staff,
Plan, schedule, delegate, and/or evaluate work assignments,
Design, plan, implement, and evaluate data verification policies and procedures.
