Pearson Data Analyst and Quality Lead in Hoboken, New Jersey

We are seeking a data analyst to join our digital consumer products team who can turn data into insights and action and ensure the quality and ease of use of our product engagement data. We are looking for strong critical thinking skills, the ability to navigate various data environments, hands-on technical ability in data, and a drive to understand our business. The successful candidate will be a thought partner to our analysts, product managers, and engineers and will assist them in understanding and improving our data while gaining necessary insights into consumers and our products. This individual will dig into instrumentation (native eventing and Google Tag Manager) and raw and processed data (backend DBs, Google Cloud Platform/BigQuery, and Snowflake), transform information into visualizations using Tableau, R, Excel, etc., and oversee and execute data quality and governance standards, processes, and tools. The role involves close interaction with product management, data analysts, data warehouse developers, data architects, and software development teams to drive toward consumer and business insights. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are critical.

What You'll Do
Lead the creation of reporting requirements, work to track back on the data that is required for reporting, coordinate technology teams to deliver that data, and create the subsequent dashboards to monitor product health and surface leading and lagging indicators (typically in Tableau).
Leverage data to understand the product performance and to identify improvement opportunities and help cross-functional product teams to understand the same.
Partner with product, engineering and experience design colleagues to develop & validate creative solutions to customer & business problems that create significant impact.
Drive clarity and solve ambiguous problems using data-driven approaches.
Help create and maintain the plan, schedules, and other documentation required to effectively manage deliverables. Contribute to Pearson data quality through documentation, process, monitoring, and governance.
Support fellow data analysts and data scientists to solve data problems, solve customer and product problems with data, govern quality data, and connect data problems with technical solutions.
Ensure the quality and ease of use of data in the Pearson data warehouses allowing the business to move rapidly with insight
Create, manage, and execute processes to ensure data quality during data requirements creation and instrumentation implementation
Identify, implement, and use low-cost and no-cost tools and automations to support the efficient deployment of data quality processes
Triage data quality issues in instrumentation and data warehousing
Apply rigor to documentation, quality assurance, triage, monitoring, data dictionary, data cataloging, and data ROI and KPI tracking

Qualifications
Proficient at making complex data concepts understandable with all levels of product teams and engineering teams
Persistence in creative problem solving, organization, process creation, and time management. Ability to manage multiple requests at the same time with different groups and different due dates.
Experience in data visualization design and development
Ability to write and create data visualizations, such as with Tableau
Experience with Tableau, Google Big Query, Snowflake, Google Tag Manager, Jira, Confluence
Experience with and understanding of product interaction data/telemetry/clickstream data and related analytics
Understanding of technical instrumentation methodologies for native eventing implementation and Google Tag Manager
Understanding of data quality methodologies and best practices for instrumentation intake, data dictionaries, data cataloging, governance, and quality assurance and monitoring
Experience working very closely with cross-functional product teams and building strong relationships
As required by Equal Pay Transparency Act, Pearson provides a reasonable range of minimum compensation for roles that may be hired in Colorado and New York City. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. As required by the Colorado and New York City laws, the pay range for this position is as follows:
Minimum full-time salary range is between $120,000.
